It is fun to play cards in Math!
lynchie52
While playing war we noticed things about the cards.
lynchie52
We noticed that each suit had numbers from ace to 10.
lynchie52
We had to draw a picture of the missing 3 cards.
lynchie52
When there is a "war" we place two cards face down and then
lynchie52
a third card face up. The winner of all the cards is the one with the higher number.
lynchie52
We even played on the floor.
lynchie52
We noticed that there were 4 suits - hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs.
lynchie52
During another math period we tried to figure out the three missing cards.
lynchie52
We used different strategies to do this.
lynchie52
We talked to our partners and used our thinking skills.
lynchie52
Some of us did a great job sorting our cards into groups.
lynchie52
After sorting the cards in the different suits some of us were able to figure out what was missing.
lynchie52
Then we used our worksheets to show our work.
lynchie52
Working together in Math was great!
lynchie52
Here we are dealing the cards.
lynchie52
We decided that the ace would be a high card.
lynchie52
The person with the higher number card wins the two cards.
lynchie52
When two cards match there is a tie and then there is "war".

Students in Grade One worked on a Math Situation Problem.
lynchie52
The face cards were removed from the deck, as well as 3 other cards.

First, we learned how to play War.
