Jack, the feral fairy, couldn't find his friends.
bookchook
He climbed to the top of a tree and looked left and right.

But Roger and Daisy were nowhere to be seen. Jack blinked tears away and sniffed.
bookchook
"You're looking in all the wrong places," called Nancy from her sunbathing stump. "Try looking inside the big gum tree!"
bookchook
Inside the gum tree? How did Daisy and Roger get right inside a tree, wondered Jack. But he climbed down and ran to the big old gum tree nearby.
bookchook
Roger tried to keep his giggle quiet, but his body shook and so did the branch he was perched on.
bookchook
Daisy's branch shook, too. She felt just like a magpie and wished she could fly with her stumpy fairy wings.

Jack sighed. He'd walked all around the tree, but there was no way in. "Maybe I'll never see my friends ever again!"
bookchook
Roger giggled, his branch shook, and down he plummeted to the bottom of the tree.
bookchook
"Hi, Jack," said Roger, pulling splinters out of his pants.

Daisy jumped down too, and gave Jack a cuddle. The three friends ate their honey sandwiches together while they planned their next game.
