Hello from Barcelona, Spain. I've been in Llandudno and Conway Bay many years ago -at last 18!! The pictures remembered me that beatiful and pleasant places. Thank you!
Pauline
Lovely. You certainly got the best of the weather that weekend. Wigan was much less settled.

Here is a more impressive view of the castle (not mine ) it was built between 1283 and 1289 by Edward 1 - one of fourteen castles in North Wales built to intimidate the rebellious Welsh.

Here is a photo I found (not mine) of Telford's road bridge built in 1826. Now closed to traffic it is accessible by foot only. It is a mere 2.5 meters wide. The chains rust proofed with linseed oil.

Surprised me that I remembered so much about Conway and the smallest house in the world, seeing that it must be 60 years ago that we were on a family holiday in a B&B and I caught a 6 inch Dab fron the pier, which the landlady refused to cook for me. Thanks for the memory and compliments for the quality of your pictures from a little cell-phone.

Back at our hotel - When built, all the hotels had to choose their colours from a pastel shade card on the insistance of the powerful local landowning Mostyn family - We had a nice weekend - Bye.

On Sunday we took an open top bus across the estuary to Conwy. Here are some views of Conwy quay, with its 13th cent. town walls, on the top of which you can walk around the town.
Jim
Also on the quay is the smallest house in Britain - once a family of six lived in it.

Conwy Quay and castle.

From the quay a view of the modern road bridge, behind which is Thomas Telford's famous 19th cent. road bridge - and behind this is the rail bridge built by Robert Stephenson.

Conwy Quay looking up the river. You can take a leisurely half hour sail under the great bridges and beyond - we didn't - but maybe next time.

A view across to Deganwey. The hump in the background is the Great Orme at Llandudno.

Part of Conwy Castle seen from the bus heading back to Llandudno.

We rode back inside the sightseeing bus - after coming over on its windy open top deck earlier in the day.
Jim
The bus brought us back in Llandudno - now busy with day trippers.

The Llandudno lifeboat was on show as part of a fundraiser for the RNLB which operates purely on public donations and is crewed by volunteers.
