Bill Pickard '71 Great show. I spent three Springs at Lake Martin, including the first ever trip down there in 1969.. Great memories. Wonderful people. Good food. Girls at Alexander City Jr. College were terrific.
Richard Yocum '78 Lightweights (now rowing heavy) Thanks so much, Rich! Really enjoyed this. Other found memories of Lake Martin include an out-of-boat crab (rower shall remain nameless) and towing a cox on waterskies. In the not-so-found memories - lots of rednecks with shotguns hanging in pickup truck windows, and I think I can still taste the liver and onions they fed us every other night!
Jeff Siegle '93 Thanks for this compilation. As a Frosh HWT in 1990 we enjoyed a spring in Tennessee, not quite as rustic but certainly full of some of the same flavor (including the 20+ hour ride back to the Hanover plain)....
Jim Thiel, 1975 Lightweight Thanks, I remember that trip very well, as it was my last spring training. Too bad we didn't get any shots of the square dance at the local church in Alexander City. Remember that? And the 28 hours in a car to get back to Hanover?
Ram Hi Rick,
I liked the compilation.
Tom De Lancey - frosh heavyweigt starboard stroke, 1972 Thanks. As I recall, freshman year we were at Kent School, and the pictures would have been much grimmer. Love the pictures of the old oars and shells. Hare to explain to kids these days about the times when men-where-men and it really took eight guys to carry a shell.
