Jim Just below Parbold Hill in Lancashire is the entrance to Fairy Glen.
Jim In May bluebells abound and lower down the trail are masses of Ransom or wild garlic.
Jim The UK has more than half of the world's population of Bluebells.
Jim Just follow the trail around this short walk which brings you back to the road.
Jim Having enjoyed the wood you can walk or drive the half mile to the parking place by the road on top of Parbold Hill.
Jim Opposite the pub a path takes you down to the Leeds to Liverpool Canal if you don't mind the climb back.
Jim A " Kissing Gate" at the bottom of the path. Here turn right and follow a wider track to the canal five minutes away.
Jim The Leeds to Liverpool Canal, from here you could walk the five miles into the centre of Wigan if you so wished.
Jim The climb back - but you can rest and take in the lovely views to break the climb.
Jim ..and when you get back to the top there is a nice pub to enjoy. and a viewing point that lets you see Liverpool and its docks and cathedrals, and the far mountains of North Wales.
