ianmclean Hard to believe this was now exactly six years ago!
ianmclean If the hail had trashed up the then-new skylights of the library, I think I'd have been crying, too! But Frosty was in his element! I don't think he'd ever expected to experience a winter wonderland - especially in an Australian summer.
Brian Made me cry. I'm just hopeless at the moment.
ianmclean That's hilarious, 3/4FB! I'm glad you were able to watch this slideshow on your new IWB. Thanks for leaving a comment!
3/4FB @ Penrith PS We loved seeing the library snowman out in the "snow"! Jimmy is glad the snowman finally used Quitline and gave up his cigar habit.
Naomi :) Thanks Ian! I was just about to do something to show the kids. You just saved me a job! And what a great job you did!
Glenda, Bateau Bay Wow, that's a lot of hail! Imagine the fun the kids would have had, had they been at school!
Sharon You are such a talent, Ian! A wondrous Christmas sight! Happy holidays!
Carol Great work, Ian! Thanks for this enduring record of an amazing event. We can use this slideshow next time we do the unit of work on "Wild Weather"! Have a great Christmas!
GMc - MPS Ian, were you thinking of wanting a White Christmas at the time? Be careful of what you wish for next! Well done, savvy fox.
bel Wow! I'm in Cambridge Park and we didn't get that much hail!
ianmclean Thanks for the great comments everyone! Much appreciated. My colleagues here have been laughing about how, while they were all upstairs saving the school computers from waterfalls and bailing water out of bins, I was braving the storm to set up the library snowman in the playground for a rare photo op. Art wins out over insurance assessors every time!
Marjie A great record of an amazing event.
mhall Amazing shots, Ian. Looks like you got more than we did in the Blue Mountains. Merry Christmas.
Kaylene It wasn't quite so white in Mt Druitt - but we did get some hail during the storm as we ate our Christmas lunch.
Alison, SA Thought I'd have to go all the way to the UK for a White Christmas. Thanks for this wondrous cinematic production. Our 1980s school library was flooded last week - no students around, fortunately. Not a pleasant experience, though.
Wendy G. Amazing for December in Australia!
Fiona Amazing. I'm in Darwin (actually Driver PS in Palmerston), sitting in the aircon, doing an assignment for my METL course. We are hot, humid and it's raininnnnnnnnng. Hope all is OK in spite of all the hail.
Julie Lucky you got the snowman out in time! :-)
Liz LOL. Only you could make a weather event into a beautiful fairytale. Thanks for the Christmas cheer. ;)Ian, you are one in a million.
ianmclean The new BER library was resilient, apart from a few ice slivers coming in through the skylight vents, but the top floor of our Admin building had spectacular water cascades from the light fittings, all over a bank of computers and filling three garbage bins with water in mere minutes!
Laureen Looks like you guys got hit a bit harder than we did up in the Mountains!
ianmclean I knew that snowman would come in handy again! This slideshow has been restored, following the Great PhotoPeach Crash of December 2012. The previous version had 1890 views.
ianmclean The skies darkened - and down came the hail!
ianmclean Western Sydney, Australia. 16th December, 2010. To the strains of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas"...
ianmclean we ate our Christmas lunch together in the heat of summer.
ianmclean So hard to believe!
ianmclean It had been a normal summer's day Down Under...
ianmclean if you get my drift.
ianmclean See you in 2011!
ianmclean 'Twas a Pupil Free Day, and all through the school, not a student was stirring... Only staff - oh, so cruel...
