Bob W USA You have a very lovely baker and Brita is such a wonderful Chef. You could open a new shop in the strip district of Pittsburgh. " Gramberg Family Kringel ". Cecil B. De Gramberg has produced another Emmy award winner documentary!! The Grandchildren look wonderful. A hug to Grandma Brita.
Norma from Venetia I loved the cooking lesson, and Emily is invited any time to give cooking lessons to my granddaughters.
ubbo Well, my little brother was playing in the living room and I was not really sure, what to do. But then I knew: This is the time to bake some "Kringel".
ubbo "Grandma, can we bake Kringel?!" "Sure, my cookie, just join me in the kitchen!" Step 1: Stirring some flour with a few yolks of an egg in a bowl.
ubbo Step 2: Adding some vanillin sugar. Grandpa asked, if taking photos was okay. Because he wanted to write a cookbook and pictures would improve the message.
ubbo Step 3: Application of an electric stirrer and addition of orange juice. Well, that was okay with grandpa, because that's what he always does: Taking photos.
ubbo Grandma has got some problems with her wrist, so I gave her a hand. And that machine is really heavy, I say!
ubbo Did we add some yeast? I guess so. Anyway, now the dough needed some rest in the dark at a slightly elevated temperature.
ubbo See what I mean? By the way, this is grandma's old electric cooker. 23 years old. Next week she'll get a new one!
ubbo Here we go, and now I have a few minutes to do something else.
ubbo For example kneading little balls from ground meat for the dinner.
ubbo Actually, I prefer flour, but as you know, when duty calls ...
ubbo Okay, waiting was successful: The dough is ready for sculpturing activities.
ubbo Well, that's a Kringel, and I love it. And I like to make Kringel. "Kringel" is singular as well as plural, by the way.
ubbo I have forgotten about the steps. Anyway: Next step is putting the Kringel on a baking tray.
ubbo As you can see, there are small Kringel and big ones. And one has to add some flour ...
ubbo ... onto Kringel and face.
ubbo Next step: Addition of some oil to the surface of the Kringel. Uncle Bob from Moon Twnshp would call that a paint job, but I think that he has never baked Kringel.
ubbo Ta-dah! I love this sight when the Kringel come out of the oven. And I like the colour and the smell!
ubbo And whenever I cut something with a good knife, grandpa gets white in his face. It's really funny!
ubbo Grandma had taken out her very precious cups with the golden rim and so we had a nice "cup o' tea" that afternoon. Of course, ...
ubbo ... I got the pink cup! Did you enjoy my baking? Grandpa will never write a cookbook, I guess. But that is okay with me. He always promises and forgets. "That's typical for old men", he keeps saying.
