Brenda It looks very attractive. I must have a trip out there sometime. Thank you for sharing this with me ..
Jim For visitors the main attraction would be the tearoom, but you can access the canal from it
along an enclosed path - so it could make for a nice winter afternoon walk
with a hot drink and a snack before you leave.
karen You make it look very pleasant j, looks boring from the road when driving past, the sun does help, you do get about !
Jim .. to enjoy a meal or a snack..
Jim The marina is just off the Ormskirk/Southport road
From Ormskirk it is first left 100 yards after the canal bridge at Scarisbrick.
From Southport 500 yards after the Morris Dancers pub lights.
Jim There are lots and lots of mooring spaces.
Jim Access to the marina for boats is via this channel off the main canal.
Jim ..which has a bridge over it.
Jim The marina viewed from the canal
Jim ..and as I said there are lots of..
Jim empty moorings waiting to be filled.
Jim This is from the canal towpath looking towards the main road bridge..
Jim ..... between Ormskirk and Southport.
Jim on the opposite bank is a caravan park.
Jim Back on the mariina
Jim ..a pickup truck from Fettlers Wharf a similar marina setup at Burscough.
Jim ..and finally the car parking area - so if your local it makes for a pleasnt couple of hours in nice surroundings.
Jim Opened earlier this year this is the new Scarisbrick Marina for canal narrow boats.
Jim Boat access is from the adjacent Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Jim It has a pleasant tea room..
Jim ..overlooking the marina...
Jim ..and access to an outside eating area which seemed popular with passing cyclists...
Jim ..where they can grab a snack and chew the fat.
